DAY 10THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT (1)Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Vs 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.The word “fruit” in the above texts refers to result; consequence or outcome. In essence, the above texts can be better understood as:…But the result of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law Now, earlier in the same letter, Paul explained to his audience that they had received the Spirit of God, by faith in the gospel.Galatians 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?Galatians 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.Further in Chapter 4, he taught them that they are indwelt by the Spirit of His Son.Galatians 4:5-6 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. Vs 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.Thus, the Spirit that Paul referred to in Galatians 5:22, is the Spirit indwelling the believer, which is received by faith in the gospel.Thus, what Paul explained was, the result of the Spirit in us, is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: In essence, because the Spirit of God abides in us, we can walk in love (joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance) towards others. This explains why Paul explained in earlier paragraphs.Galatians 5:13-15 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. Vs 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Vs 15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.Thus, he gave them instructions to walk in love towards one another, because they are saved (Galatians 1:6), born of God (Galatians 3:21-24), and are indwelt by the Spirit of God (Galatians 3:2-3, 14, 4:5-6).Confession:I have received the Spirit of God by faith in the gospel (of Christ). I am indwelt by the Spirit. Because the Spirit of God abides in me, I walk in love towards others at all times.
