Just before you sleep today ..Reminiscing earlier today ,lessons learnt as a younger Christian.A friend was billed to speak at our school fellowship,well respected,had all the trappings of a charismatic minister ,he showed up adorning an " Agbada".He had earlier attended a similar event with " suspenders " and colorful attire .To us back then ,smelling the roses of a new Found freedom from the much earlier conservative Christianity, to us this was cool ,classy and well branded “Mogism”Then came Uncle (pastor Sola Oladele ), and made very poignant observation which definitely was lost on us all then .He asked if my dear friend owned any of the attires worn for the events .He said " if you have to borrow clothes ( he actually said borrow pose ) to preach,you will build a ministry to entertain and full of hype and deceit.It's many years since that counsel.Then we took it like " warridis" ,he is trying to impose his personality etc ..Now,I see it clearly .A ministry or Christian life built on hype can NEVER be built on Christ .They are two parallel lines.Galatians 1:10 KJV[10] For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.The apostles gloried in suffering and hardship not in glamor or crowd appeal .1 Corinthians 4:9-11 KJV[9] For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. 10] We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised. 11] Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;Uncle Oladele saw this ,being a stickler for building strong foundation(Now you should know why am always laying foundation ☺️), he knew if you started with glitterati,you swim in error .Hype is no good .Media hype is for creating an image .Rather than leave public relations to the Holy Spirit,we doctor it .Where God is to be glorified through our suffering and hardship ,we circumvent it and self-glory all the way .You believe and suffer for the cause of Christ Philippians 1:29 KJV[29] For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;Hype will hinder this .We have been told ministry is all about exquisite things ,buildings and systems .Not so.It's about the Old rugged gospel .Its power .Its focus .Eternal verities .A living Lord and our sole allegiance to him.Alone Let me close with a conversation which ensued between myself and very senior ministers .After teaching on proper bible interpretation and debunking many errors on materialism .A preacher / pastor ( with a large church )accosted me and admitted all I said was true .But claimed if we teach the truth about giving ,many won't give .He cited how many times his church needs won't get met ,including rentals and bills ,If he just teaches unconditional giving ( generosity).He claims they might even be ejected from their facility etc .Hence he would have to engage a “false prophet “ to raise such funds etc ( He added more that I can’t bear to type )He said the funds are often raised in minutes this way via falsehood ,he wasn’t remorseful.My mouth was wide open Then I told him ,” it’s better to be ejected ,suffer and leave the gospel undiluted than otherwise,not forgetting you will give account to Jesus .!He didn’t attend my sessions after ,I didn’t have a bother !Hype creates big projects,false doctrines ,error ,manipulation etcThe words of Revd George Adegboye during YMTS(Young Ministers Training School )Ilorin (1994 ) where I was a student ,his words come to heart “ Where a ministry suddenly starts teaching strange doctrines ,changes its emphasis and also on giving ,they have a big project to finance “It’s 23 years since those words ,and he’s been proven correct .It’s been more years since my friend wore a borrowed agbada..I can only see what hype will do to you ,ambitious projects and competition..And am grateful .No hype ,no pressure ..Just Christ in His loveliness and simplicity.Have a great evening and night Jesus is glorified#chrissegunonayinka#saintscommunitychurch ... Before you give yourself a medal of good marriage ..Flaunting a good marriage as proof of obeying God is misinformed It’s neither here nor there.Those who had challenges aren't of lesser obedience than yourself .Same way having or not having physical wealth is no proof of godliness Non believers have good marriages Yet believers have challenges and broken marriages!I mean very good believers have bad experiences!Things happen!So dear marriage teacher,in your “marital Almighty formula series “wear some garment of humility.If your marriage is good? Maybe You are just lucky!?We have had great marriage counselors as a couple who encountered challenges.See,If believers can fall out with God ,then don't give yourself any accolade abeg.
