As it's often said "boys will be boys".Part of our mischief then was making comparison of and about cars.As an ibadan bred boy, we had a name for the old Volkswagen beetle car, we called it" ye ri n beto "( excuse me and let me spit), just because the car had just two doors or we called it, so ki n so (get down first then i will alight after)This continued till, a man had an old Skoda car looking even more ancient than our earlier objects of mockery, however something stood out hereThe man wrote boldly on the car...TI E DA(where is your own car? )Fact then was NONE of us mockers or call us association of mockers had a car! But if not ( short notes on Shedrach ,meshach and abdnego)Daniel 3:18 KJV[18] But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.Some have adduced from the above text ,lessons of commitment to God and faith in God even if He won't deliver us ,heal us or help us .Many don't know the implication of such unhealthy interpretation of scriptures .It's the same way Jesus has been so defamed in the John 9 account John 9:3 KJV[3] Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.The man was born blind so God could show His power .That contradicts all Jesus taught himself Now let's take the Shedrach ,Meshach and Abednego Account Let's view the background The king ,Nebuchadnezzar had given a decree that he should be worshipped as deity .Shedrack ,Meshach and Abednego defied that Daniel 3:14-15 KJV[14] Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?[15] Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well : but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?The king was displeased about this and summoned them .Now read verse 15 very well ." If they won't bow and worship me ,cast them into fire ,I dare any being or God to set them free from the fire ( my hands )"Daniel 3:16 KJV[16] Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.They replied him ,Read their response carefully Daniel 3:17 KJV[17] If it be so , our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.If it be so ,so what ?If you cast us in the fire. If it be so that you cast us into fire,God will deliver us out of the fire .Now read the next verse carefully too !Daniel 3:18 KJV[18] But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.But if not ,if not what ?If you don't cast us into the fire !Some have read it to mean ,if God doesn't deliver us when you cast us into fire,we won't worship you !That's too faulty .There would be no need to worship if they aren't delivered from the fire as they would have been dead !Besides ,the if it be so and if not ,was about Nebuchadnezzar and not about God !Why would anyone call doubting Gods willingness and ability to deliver faith !That's both illogical and fatalistic .They had implicit and explicit confidence that God will surely deliver them from harm and also had an unyielding stand about not worshipping Nebuchadnezzar even if he didn't carry out his threat .Simplicita.Same with the John 9 account John 9:3 KJV[3] Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.Jesus answered a question ,John 9:2 KJV[2] And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?No one sinned that made him blind Then went further than the question. Imagine ending verse 3 with the answer and starting verse 4 with " but that the works of God should be made manifest in him..."Jesus here is correcting them to focus on the works of God . A better original Greek rendering of verse 4 should have been "Not at all , however Let the works of God be revealed.”That should also be our focus Jesus is saying " stop focusing on why it happened or who to blame but rather start believing Gods power ". He clearly called healing the works of God .Not the blindness .It's so unhealthy to try and smuggle God in as an actor in evil or unfortunate circumstances either as a conspirator or accessory before or after a fact in evil .He isn't and can't be That puts a big question even on the eternity of our believing and faith .If we can't predict Him now ,it leaves our eternity in less assurance and in jeopardy and our gospel is nothing but assumptions But it's not so Jesus is God And He clears all doubts.Matthew 17:5 KJV[5] While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.Hear HimHope this is clear ?I call you blessed#chrissegunonayinka#saintscommunitychurch ...
